Furnace Repair in Henderson: What Green Valley, Anthem, and Inspirada Homes Run Into

Short answer: Most Henderson no-heat calls in the first cold weeks are a dirty filter, a thermostat setting, a tripped breaker, or an ignition part on a furnace that sat idle all summer. Older Green Valley systems and newer two-story Anthem or Inspirada homes tend to fail in different ways, so start with the safe checks below and tell the technician which kind of house you have.

Colton Air Conditioning schedules heating repair in Henderson Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Henderson is not one housing stock

Green Valley has a lot of original split systems from the 1990s. Anthem and Inspirada are newer, often two-story, and often run two systems, one for each floor. Some Henderson homes heat with a gas furnace; others use a heat pump with electric backup. Knowing which you have changes the first checks.

Home typeWhat often goes wrong firstFirst thing to check
Older Green Valley split, gas furnaceIgnitor, flame sensor, or limit trips on equipment late in its lifeFilter, furnace switch, error light on the furnace
Anthem or Inspirada two-story, two systemsOne floor cold, the other fineWhich thermostat controls which floor, and whether only one system is down
Heat pump with electric backupRuns but blows cool, or leans on backup heatThermostat mode; see heat pump not heating

Winter in the valley is mild, but not warm

NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for Harry Reid International Airport put the January average low at 40.5°F and the average high at 58.5°F (NOAA NCEI normals, station USW00023169). Henderson's own temperatures vary by neighborhood, but the pattern is the same: a furnace that ran almost never from April through October gets asked to work on the first cold night.

Safe checks before you call

  1. Thermostat on Heat, set a few degrees above the room. A blank screen is often dead batteries — see thermostat not working.
  2. Replace a gray or collapsed filter, arrow toward the furnace — see air filter size.
  3. Confirm the furnace switch (looks like a light switch) is on and the blower door is seated.
  4. Reset a tripped breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off.
  5. Two systems? Check which floor is cold and test only that thermostat.

If the burners light and then quit, read furnace flame sensor. If heat starts and stops over and over, read furnace short cycling. If air is cold from the vents, read heater blowing cold air.

Safety first

  • Gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm: leave the house now and call 911 from outside. Do not flip switches or try to relight anything.
  • A light dusty smell on the first run of the season can be normal; a burning, electrical, or lingering smell is not — see furnace smells like burning.
  • Never bypass a limit switch or other safety.

What a proper Henderson repair call covers

Diagnosis first: ignition sequence, flame sensor signal, limit and pressure switch status, blower operation, filter and airflow, and a look at the venting. A minor part stays a repair. Replacement only comes up when age, condition, and repair cost say the furnace is finished. On two-system homes, the system that failed is diagnosed and priced on its own.

When to call

  • No heat after the safe checks above
  • Breaker trips again after one reset
  • Furnace shows a flashing error code or locks out
  • Burners light, then shut off repeatedly
  • One floor of a two-story home will not heat

FAQ

Do you service furnaces in Henderson? Yes. Colton's Henderson page names Green Valley, Anthem, and Inspirada. See HVAC company in Henderson.

Upstairs is cold but downstairs is fine. Is the furnace broken? In a two-system home, probably only the upstairs system has a problem. Check that thermostat first, then the filter for that system.

Is a dusty smell on the first cold night normal? A brief dusty smell that fades is common after a summer of sitting. If it lingers or smells like burning plastic, shut it off.

Can you come on a weekend? Hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. A weekend request is a callback on the next weekday.
