Heating Maintenance
Heating maintenance in this valley is a fall visit, not a second copy of the air conditioning tune-up. We make sure the furnace or heat pump will light, move air, and shut itself off.
Most of the year the furnace sits. Dust bakes on the heat exchanger the first night it runs, and a dirty flame sensor drops the burners out. That is a maintenance item in October. It is an emergency in January if nobody opened the furnace.
We do this as its own visit, separate from the spring cooling tune-up. Cooling maintenance covers the condenser, the charge, and the summer parts. Heating maintenance covers combustion, venting, and whether the heat is safe to run. Both visits are what Colton’s Comfort Club schedules, so neither season is the one that gets skipped.
What we look for
- A furnace that has not run since last winter
- The first cold night and no heat
- A burning smell the first time the heat comes on
- A heat pump that has been on emergency heat
