AC and furnace split systems
A split system is the outdoor unit plus the indoor furnace or air handler. In Las Vegas that pair is the whole house. We repair either side, and we replace them as a match when one of them is done.
Most houses in Southern Highlands, Anthem, and the southwest valley are split systems. The condenser sits in the side yard. The furnace or air handler is in a closet, garage, or attic. They have to be the right size for each other. Putting a new outdoor unit on a tired, mismatched indoor coil is how a “new system” cools poorly.
If the compressor is dead and the furnace is fine, we will say so and price that job. If both are past useful life and both are failing, replacing them together is the honest bid. We do not use a healthy indoor unit to double the ticket. A minor electrical part on either half stays a repair.
Ductless mini-splits are an install for a room the central duct cannot feed. A whole-house system is one outdoor unit and one furnace or air handler.

- The outdoor unit runs and the house stays warm
- The furnace is new and the condenser is original
- A quote to replace only the outdoor half
- Two-story homes with one split system that cannot keep up
